Common Sense or Science

This website is about discussing the possibilities that scientific research may be hindered by lack of common sense. Sometimes, “scientists” can be so hung up on theories, maths, physics and their education, that they forget to think about one of the most reliable sources of information…“Common Sense”! It can happen in any profession. A car mechanic may be confused with the mystery of the car that won’t start, checking everything from the electrics to the mechanics of the engine, only to find a passer by call out “Has it got any fuel in it?”. Doh! Common sense first! The mechanic is so used to fixing mechanical problems, he (or she) forgot about the little things.

I often wonder if all these scienctist boffins are sitting in their labs, chalking away their equations, continuing the work of long dead “geniuses”, but are blinded by their need to know and understand so much that they don’t have the time or ability to sit back and think common sense. No doubt the science lovers will fight back and try to quote Shakespea… I mean Einstien, and baffle us non-scientists with jargon, taking it all very personally. However, that is not my intention. I welcome the unity of science and common sense. Together I think these two elements (ooh!) can conquer the greatest mysteries of the universe!
